What is a Neuschwanstein private driver tour?
A Neuschwanstein private driver tour is a day trip in your own vehicle with a chauffeur: you travel alone or with your group from Munich to the castle and back, and your chauffeur waits while you visit. Unlike a coach tour, you decide when to leave, where to stop and what else to see.
With AYDEN the trip starts at any address in Munich or at Munich Airport. If you only need a one-way ride, for example to Salzburg or Innsbruck, the city-to-city transfer from Munich is the right service.
For appointments in the city, book the chauffeur service Munich by the hour.
Munich to Neuschwanstein: getting there, parking and tickets
Driving time from Munich
From Marienplatz to the Ticket Center in Hohenschwangau it is about 118 kilometres, roughly 1 hour 45 minutes without traffic. From Munich Airport it is about 165 kilometres and roughly 1 hour 55 minutes.
No car goes up to the castle
The royal castles cannot be reached by private car. Cars park in the valley in Hohenschwangau in car parks P1 to P4 – that is where your chauffeur drops you off and waits for you.
Up to the castle
On foot it is about 30 to 40 minutes uphill from the Ticket Center. The shuttle bus takes about 15 minutes to Mary’s Bridge (Marienbrücke); from there a steep path leads about 600 metres down to the entrance. The horse-drawn carriage takes about 20 minutes to just below the castle, and you walk the last stretch.
Tickets and guided tour
You visit the castle on a guided tour. Tickets are sold in the official online shop; the Ticket Center only sells remaining tickets for the same day, subject to availability. As a rule you buy the tickets yourself – on request we get them for you. Tell us the time of your tour and we plan the departure so that you reach the valley in good time.
Neuschwanstein Castle and Linderhof private tour from Munich
Since July 2025, Neuschwanstein, Linderhof with the King’s House on the Schachen and Herrenchiemsee have been UNESCO World Heritage. Two of the three palaces combine well in one day.
Round trip Linderhof and Neuschwanstein
The round trip Munich – Linderhof – Neuschwanstein – Munich is about 260 kilometres, with just under 4 hours of pure driving time without traffic. With two castle visits and breaks, it is best to book 10 to 12 hours.
Herrenchiemsee
Herrenchiemsee Palace stands on the Herreninsel island in Lake Chiemsee. Your chauffeur takes you to Prien in about 1 hour 5 minutes, from where you continue by boat.
Private day trip from Munich to Salzburg and Hallstatt
With a private driver from Munich to Salzburg and Hallstatt you can see both in one day. The round trip Munich – Salzburg – Hallstatt – Munich is about 435 kilometres, with around 5 hours 25 minutes of pure driving time without traffic – it is best to book 12 hours. The Austrian motorway vignette is included in the price. For appointments in Salzburg itself there is our chauffeur service Salzburg.
If you only need a one-way transfer from Munich to Salzburg, for example to the airport or a meeting, book the city-to-city service.
Lake Königssee near Berchtesgaden

Day trips for business guests, delegations and teams
For companies, a day trip is a programme item for guests: a free day after the trade fair, a programme for clients or delegations, or a team outing to the mountains – with a personal driver from Munich for the whole day.
We plan the vehicles by group size – from the First Class saloon to the Sprinter for 17 people – and you receive a proper invoice. For the rides to the trade fair itself there is the trade fair shuttle.
How much does a Neuschwanstein private tour cost?
You are billed by the hour: you book your chauffeur for at least 8 hours, and a day trip can last up to 12 hours. The price also depends on the vehicle class; the Austrian motorway vignette is included.
Up to 6 passengers book directly via the online hourly booking – 8 hours are already selected there and you see the price straight away. Online bookings close 24 hours before departure; you pay by credit card.
