Routes and journey times

Journey times in Madrid: airport, Castellana, city centre and IFEMA

The minutes apply on a clear road and help you plan landing, meetings and dinner. In rush hour and around the city centre it takes longer; in the opposite direction distance and time can differ. We state the price of your routes in the quote.

Distances and journey times: route calculation based on OpenStreetMap (OSRM, © OpenStreetMap contributors), without traffic, as of November 2026; airport from Terminal 2 of Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, Puerta del Sol and Plaza de Cibeles in the city centre, AZCA from Plaza de Pablo Ruiz Picasso, Cuatro Torres Business Area from Paseo de la Castellana 259, IFEMA MADRID from the exhibition grounds, stations from Plaza del Emperador Carlos V (Atocha) and Calle de Agustín de Foxá (Chamartín).

From Madrid-Barajas Airport into the city: terminals, meeting point and journey times

Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD): terminals T1 to T4

Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport lies in the Barajas district in the north-east of the city, approx. 15 km by road from the Puerta del Sol. The operator Aena lists the terminals T1 to T4; Terminal 4 has a satellite building (T4S) served by an automatic train. T1, T2 and T3 are next to each other, T4 lies apart – between Terminal 2 and Terminal 4 it is approx. 6 km by road, about 9 minutes without traffic. Which terminal a flight uses depends on the airline; with your flight number AYDEN knows where you arrive. All airports with their own page are listed on the overview Airport transfer.

Meeting point for vehicles with a driver

For vehicles with a driver, Aena lists meeting points at Madrid-Barajas in the car parks P1, P2 and P4 (as of November 2026). AYDEN monitors your flight and tells you the meeting point before you land, so you do not have to search after collecting your luggage. 45 minutes of waiting time from the actual landing are included.

From the terminal to the centre and the stations

From Terminal 2 to the Puerta del Sol it is approx. 15 km, about 20 minutes without traffic, to the Plaza de Cibeles approx. 14 km, about 17 minutes. From Terminal 4 it is approx. 20 km, about 23 minutes to the Puerta del Sol – somewhat further, because T4 lies on the other side of the airport.

Allow enough time

At peak times the drive between airport and city takes longer than the times above. We plan pick-ups with a buffer so that your meeting starts on time – even if the flight lands earlier or later.

Meetings on the Castellana: AZCA, Cuatro Torres Business Area and the city centre

Business district along the Paseo de la Castellana

The Paseo de la Castellana runs from the city centre to the north and is the main axis of Madrid's business district. From the airport it is approx. 13 km, about 15 minutes without traffic to AZCA, and approx. 5 km, about 10 minutes from a hotel at the Puerta del Sol.

AZCA in the north of the centre

AZCA lies in the Tetuán district on the Castellana, about 3 km south of Chamartín station: from the station to the Plaza de Pablo Ruiz Picasso it is approx. 3 km, about 6 minutes without traffic.

Cuatro Torres Business Area

Further north on the Castellana stands the Cuatro Torres Business Area. From the airport to the address Paseo de la Castellana 259 it is approx. 13 km, about 15 minutes without traffic, from AZCA approx. 4 km, about 9 minutes.

Teams and stops in between

With hourly booking the chauffeur stays close and takes you from meeting to meeting – for example from the hotel to the Castellana, on to lunch in the city centre and to the next conversation in the afternoon.

Trade fairs and congresses: IFEMA MADRID, about 6 kilometres from the airport

IFEMA MADRID (exhibition grounds)

The exhibition grounds of IFEMA MADRID lie on Avenida del Partenón in the same Barajas district as the airport. From Terminal 2 it is approx. 6 km, about 9 minutes without traffic, from Terminal 4 approx. 7 km, about 9 minutes.

From IFEMA into the city

From IFEMA to the Puerta del Sol it is approx. 11 km, about 18 minutes without traffic, in the opposite direction approx. 16 km, about 19 minutes; between IFEMA and AZCA approx. 9 km, about 13 to 14 minutes. Teams who drive from the stand straight on to meetings on the Castellana are planned as one sequence.

Agree the drop-off point before the appointment

Which entrances and access roads at the exhibition grounds are open changes with events and building work. The chauffeur therefore agrees the drop-off point with you before the appointment. For trade fairs and congresses you book the chauffeur by the hour; for stand teams and delegations we put together a schedule with several vehicles.

Atocha and Chamartín stations: arrive by train, continue by car

Madrid Puerta de Atocha

Madrid Puerta de Atocha – Almudena Grandes station lies south of the city centre on the Plaza del Emperador Carlos V. From there it is approx. 2 km, about 6 minutes without traffic to the Puerta del Sol, and approx. 18 km, about 19 minutes from the airport to the station.

Madrid Chamartín

Madrid Chamartín – Clara Campoamor station lies in the north, close to AZCA. From the airport it is approx. 13 km, about 15 minutes without traffic. Between Atocha and Chamartín stations along the Castellana it is, depending on direction, approx. 8 to 9 km, about 14 to 16 minutes.

Pick-up at the station

If your guests arrive by train, we meet them at the station on request. We agree the meeting point at the respective station with you in advance.

Delegations and teams: one schedule for several vehicles

Arrivals at several terminals

If participants fly in with different airlines, they may land at different terminals. We plan the pick-ups as one sequence: we learn who arrives where from the flight numbers, and the vehicles run to plan.

Vehicles by group size

The leadership rides in First or Business Class, small teams in the Business Van (up to 6 passengers), larger groups in the Sprinter (up to 17). We fix stops, time windows and order with you in advance.

Multi-day programmes

If your team stays for several days, we plan all rides on site in one quote – from the airport through the appointments to the return ride to the airport.

Chauffeur service Madrid: frequently asked questions

The price depends on route, waiting time and vehicle class and is stated in the AYDEN quote before the ride. Typical enquiries for Madrid: the transfer from the airport to the Castellana, a trade fair day at IFEMA or a whole day with several appointments – pick-up point, date and number of passengers are enough.

In Madrid, chauffeurs from partner companies on site do the driving. AYDEN plans the rides, confirms them and remains your point of contact – also when a flight or an appointment changes. Whether you are looking for a chauffeur service or an airport transfer in Madrid: enquiry, quote and coordination always run through AYDEN.

Your chauffeur waits at the meeting point AYDEN gives you before you land; for vehicles with a driver, Aena lists meeting points at Madrid-Barajas in the car parks P1, P2 and P4 (as of November 2026). According to Aena the airport has the terminals T1 to T4 (Terminal 4 has a satellite building, T4S); which one your flight uses depends on the airline, and with your flight number AYDEN knows where you arrive. 45 minutes of waiting time from the actual landing are included.

From the airport (Terminal 2) to the Puerta del Sol it is approx. 15 km, about 20 minutes without traffic, to the Plaza de Cibeles approx. 14 km, about 17 minutes, to AZCA approx. 13 km, about 15 minutes and to the Cuatro Torres Business Area approx. 13 km, about 15 minutes. From Terminal 4 it is approx. 20 km, about 23 minutes to the Puerta del Sol and approx. 17 km, about 18 minutes to AZCA. In rush hour the drive can take considerably longer, which is why AYDEN plans pick-ups in Madrid with a buffer.

From Terminal 2 it is approx. 6 km, about 9 minutes without traffic to IFEMA MADRID; IFEMA lies in the same Barajas district as the airport. Which access roads at the exhibition grounds are open at the moment changes with events and building work; the chauffeur agrees the drop-off point with you before the appointment. From the Puerta del Sol to IFEMA it is approx. 16 km, about 19 minutes, in the opposite direction approx. 11 km, about 18 minutes.

Yes, on request we meet guests at Madrid Puerta de Atocha – Almudena Grandes and Madrid Chamartín – Clara Campoamor stations; AYDEN agrees the meeting point with you in advance. From the airport it is approx. 13 km, about 15 minutes without traffic to Chamartín station and approx. 18 km, about 19 minutes to Atocha.

Yes, by the hour or by the day: for a trade fair day at IFEMA, a day of meetings and dinner on the Castellana or a programme over several days in Madrid. AYDEN plans the chauffeur around the clock and at short notice; pick-up address, date, start time and expected duration are enough for the quote, and for multi-day programmes it covers all days.

Yes, by quote: for delegations in Madrid AYDEN plans First and Business Class saloons, Business Vans up to 6 and the Sprinter up to 17 passengers as one sequence – even if participants land at different terminals or drive from the IFEMA stand straight on to the Castellana. How many vehicles are available for your appointment AYDEN checks with your enquiry and coordinates it with the partner companies on site.

For one person from the airport to the Castellana the Business Class usually fits, for stand teams to IFEMA the Business Van, for delegations of seven or more the Sprinter; the quote names the class for your route. All five classes are available in Madrid: First Class (e.g. Mercedes-Benz S-Class) up to 2 passengers, Business Class up to 3, Business Van (Mercedes-Benz V-Class) up to 6, SUV (e.g. Range Rover) up to 3 and Sprinter up to 17; you book the SUV and the Sprinter through a quote request.

You receive a quote before the ride and pay by invoice via bank transfer or online by credit card; you do not pay cash in the vehicle.
